On October 11, Tesla unveiled its new self-driving taxi, Cybercab, at the 'WE, ROBOT' event. The company's CEO, Elon Musk, made a unique entrance by arriving at the venue in a Cybercab self-driving taxi.
At the event, Musk announced that the Cybercab will not be equipped with a steering wheel or pedals, and its manufacturing cost is expected to be less than $30,000 , with production planned to begin in 2026. This price is already lower than the currently available Model 3 on the market.
The Cybercab design features gull-wing doors that can open at a wide angle, making it easier for passengers to get in and out. The vehicle also boasts a sleek fastback shape, giving it a sports car-like appearance. Musk emphasized that the car will fully rely on Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, meaning passengers won’t need to drive, they only need to ride.
At the event, 50 Cybercab self-driving cars were showcased. Musk also revealed that Tesla plans to roll out the unsupervised FSD feature in Texas and California next year, further advancing autonomous driving technology.
