The Most Battle-Ready Wagon: Subaru WRX Wagon (GF8)

Starting from the first generation WRX, in addition to the sedan versions (GC, GD), there were also wagon versions (GF, GG). Below is the GF style of the 1st to 6th generation WRX Wagon, with a front end nearly identical to the sedan version. If you don't look at the rear, it’s hard to tell whether it’s a sedan or a wagon. Of course, the body kit and aerodynamic components are also shared between the two, which undoubtedly makes the GF a wagon that was born to be unconventional.

Just like the sedan STi version (GC8), the wagon also had a high-performance STi version (GF8).

Adding a black front lip on top of the STi body kit makes the front end look even lower and more aggressive.

The most captivating part of the GF is, of course, the rear. The C-pillar design mimics that of the sedan, making the long and somewhat bulky wagon look more compact, as if an extra luggage compartment was seamlessly added to the sedan. This not only preserves the original lines of the car but also adds a sense of stability and practicality.Subaru WRX Wagon (GF8)

In addition to the roof spoiler, an extra spoiler is installed on the slightly raised part of the trunk, making it look even more like a sedan.

The rear features a single-sided dual exhaust setup under a modest rear bumper, which isn't too exaggerated. From the back, you can also notice the rear wheel camber—something HellaFlush enthusiasts will appreciate.

The wheels are two-piece with a noticeable offset, giving them a certain degree of outward stance.

The engine bay is neatly arranged, showcasing both functionality and aesthetics. Notably, the original top-mounted intercooler has been replaced with a front-mounted one. This allows for a larger intercooler, improving cooling efficiency and accommodating a bigger turbo. However, the downside is that the longer piping exacerbates turbo lag.

The GF series models were imported into the country through various channels in small quantities, but their visibility remains extremely low. Those that still exist are truly rare gems. The later 8th-generation WRX Wagon (GG) was sold as an import, but unfortunately, it didn't perform well in the domestic market. Nowadays, finding a good second-hand GG is no easy task.
